Led by Prof. Ben Ku, Director of the China and Global Development Network of APSS, PolyU, a capacity building session focusing on Action Research in Social Work Education was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on 4 October 2024. The purpose of the session was to enable participants to understand the concept and model of action research and how to apply action research in social work education.

More than 30 faculty members, PhD students, Master of Social Work students from the Department of Sociology and Social Work, and social work educators from various universities in Almaty attended this session. The capacity building session significantly enhanced the knowledge and understanding of educational action research among the faculty and students of the Department of Sociology and Social Work of KazNU. It also strengthened the partnership between PolyU and KazNU.
