In recent years, social work practice research has gained significant momentum across China, attracting growing interest from both social work educators and frontline practitioners. To support this emerging practice and foster scholarly dialogue, Classic Readings and Cases of Practice Research in China (实践研究经典读物及实践案例) is published. 

The book, edited by Dr Denny HO (Senior Research Fellow, APSS, PolyU), is thoughtfully structured into two main parts. Part I introduces classic readings on practice research, exploring the core philosophical, theoretical and epistemological frameworks that underpin the discipline. 

Part II features a rich collection of case studies conducted by Chinese scholars, covering areas such as the delivery of specific social work services, including community mental health services, social services to enhance participation in resettlements, interventions for crisis families and other areas of social work practice

Drawing on foundational classic readings on practice-based research and combining them with case studies from China, the book offers readers valuable insights into the development and application of practice research in China, enabling readers to gain a clear understanding of its developmental characteristics and practical applications.
