Congratulations to the PKU-PolyU China Social Work Research Centre for achieving an “Excellent” rating in the 2025 Peking University Annual Review
06 July 2026
News

The Peking University–The Hong Kong Polytechnic University China Social Work Research Centre (the “Centre”) has once again been awarded an “Excellent” rating in the 2025 annual review conducted by the Peking University Office of Humanities and Social Sciences. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Centre has received this honour, highlighting its sustained contributions to academic research and social development.

The evaluation was based on a comprehensive assessment of the institution’s effectiveness as an academic platform, its success in cultivating talent, its organisation of academically influential activities, and its output of high-quality research findings. Out of 275 virtual research institutions reviewed at Peking University, only 35, less than 15%, were awarded the “Excellent” rating. Achieving this distinction is highly competitive and difficult, and the Centre’s ability to secure it for the fourth consecutive year demonstrates its sustained excellence and impact.

Jointly established by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Peking University in 2007, the Centre is dedicated to advancing social work theory and practice in China. Through a multi‑disciplinary approach, it integrates theory with practice, indigenises and professionalises social work, and contributes to social problem‑solving and sustainable development. The Centre also cultivates a team of social work and social policy researchers committed to long‑term social change in the Chinese Mainland.

This “Excellent” rating reflects the deep collaboration between PolyU and Peking University, as well as the invaluable support from all sectors. Looking ahead, the Centre will continue to strengthen research innovation, social work practice, talent cultivation, and international exchange, further promoting social and sustainable development in China and around the world.
