Venue: Peking University, Beijing, China
Dear fellow scholars and practitioners in the field of social work,
We cordially invite you to participate in our upcoming international conference on "Synthesizing Knowledge: Chinese Social Work Practice Research and Its Dialogue with the World".
As China's social work enters a new historical phase alongside its modernisation process, social work is expected to play an increasingly significant role in enhancing community governance, community development and public welfare. Practice Research in Social Work emphasises the principle of "coming from practice and going to practice." Practice Research not only examines social work practices but also aims to advance the development of social work services and the profession itself. In this new era, there is an urgent need to deepen the production of social work knowledge based on national conditions and practical needs. Through extensive dialogues and exchanges, we can elevate the level of social work practice research and build a social work theory and practice system with Chinese characteristics.
Against this backdrop, the Department of Applied Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Department of Sociology at Peking University, the China and Global Development Network at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the Peking University – The Hong Kong Polytechnic University China Social Work Research Centre are pleased to announce the " Synthesizing Knowledge: Chinese Social Work Practice Research and Its Dialogue with the World " international conference, scheduled to take place from 30 November to 1 December 2024, at Peking University. Participants will include social work experts and scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Argentina, Belgium, Georgia, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Moldova, South Africa, Thailand, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Vietnam, and other regions.
