Prof. Eric Chui, Head of Department of Applied Social Sciences, and Ms Kan Yip, Associate Director of China and Global Development Network, joined the 27th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference 2023. The conference, titled "The Sustainable Development Goals Halfway Point: Social Worker's Contributions to Social Development," was held from November 5 to 7 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City, Philippines. It was organized by the International Federation of Social Workers, IFSW Asia-Pacific Region, the Asia Pacific Association of Social Work Education, and the Philippine Association of Social Workers.
Prof. Chui spoke as a special guest at the opening session of the conference, which attracted scholars, experts, and practitioners from around the world in the field of social work and social development. His speech, titled "Advancing Sustainable Social Work Education for Building Resilient and Equitable Communities," highlighted PolyU's contributions to the community. Specifically, he mentioned the PolyU Alumni Driven Gerontech Innovation and the Policy Research Centre for Innovation and Technology (PReCIT). These initiatives demonstrate PolyU's commitment to community development and the pursuit of developing Hong Kong as a carbon-neutral city.
