Recently completed: Safeguarding Food Security and Mitigating the Spread of Forest Fires in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Project Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand

Project Period: 31 Jul 2022 - 31 Jul 2023

Project Description:
With the support of Victor and William Fung Foundation Limited, the Network has completed a year-long project with Borderless Friendship Foundation (BFF) in Thailand on 31st July. BFF houses over 150 hill tribe children in a Leadership Home in the rural area of Northern Chiang Mai. Mostly orphans or without parents who can take care of them, these children need food, shelter, education, and different life skills for their career development. In our project “Integrated Food Security and Forest Fire Protection Project for Leadership Home Children in Chiang Mai, Thailand,” The network supplied BFF with the connections and equipment needed to train the children in farming and small-scale livestock-rearing. We helped develop firebreaks and employ various measures in the area to protect the community from annual forest fires. To promote healthy-living and contribute additional food sources to the children, we helped in the planting of hundreds of different fruit trees in the area.
