Description of the project :

This community-based health action research project aims to meet multiple needs, especially those of the health dimension of left-behind children, youth, and elderly of the“skipped generation households” in Miaoxia Village. Through cooperating with experts on health sciences, psychology and anthropology, this action research project attempts to explore an alternative model in post-disaster community reconstruction to enhance the quality of life of the left-behind people in the disaster affected community in Ya’an of Sichhuan.

The implementation of this project is expected to foster the development of a "community-based health model for post-disaster recovery". This model will be popularized in China and internationally, and can provide effective strategies for disaster management and community reconstruction work and health practices. The post-disaster reconstruction benefits will be replicated and radiated to other communities, with far-reaching impacts.
