In response to sustainable development and public emergency

The international conference is jointly organised by China and Global Development Network, Department of Applied Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. It aims to provide a forum for discussion between academics and practitioners in social work and related disciplines to share their experiences in assessing and responding to emergencies, disasters, and epidemics as well as in ways to advance social services for social development particularly in the ASEAN region.

Submission of abstracts on the following topics are invited for the Conference of the ASEAN-Social Work Education and Social Development 2023:

(1) Social Work Training

  • Developing social work curriculum to respond to a changing world
  • Evaluation of the training programme
  • Developing training programmes appropriate to the actual context
  • Developing specialised training programmes
  • Experience in social work training in developing training programmes appropriate to the local context
  • Localising training programmes in accordance with local practical situations
  • Local knowledge in training programmes
  • Training associated with social work practice
  • Practical experience, internship in social work training
  • Experience in quality assurance of practical training
  • Training to improve capacity of social service providers
  • Developing short-term training programmes to improve the capacity of social service providers
  • Experience in capacity building training to respond to social and environmental issues (climate change, natural disasters, epidemics)
  • Regional development and collaboration in social work education and social development (Regional development and collaboration)
  • Experience of cooperation and development of social work training in ASEAN, Asia and international countries
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of social work training cooperation activities

(2) Social Work for Social Development

(4) Moving forward/ Roadmap: Perspectives and Lessons Learned from ASEAN Countries

  2. Notification of acceptance by 30 April , 2023.
  3. Full-text submission:
    - Use the template (Link) of the conference and Chicago citation format for submission of paper.
    - Submit the paper by 8 June, 2023
